• Film is scanned full frame with a small amount of border (film rebate).

• Files are not upsampled to artificially increase size.

• Originals must be flexible enough to wrap onto the scanner drum.

• Scans are spotted to remove small imperfections on the film to restore the true image.

• Extensive damage (pervasive scratches/embedded particles/stains, etc. which require more than a basic cleanup) can be repaired for an additional $50 per half hour of work.

• For negative film, input histograms are individually adjusted to include the entire tonal range of each piece of film, not necessarily for color balance and a color balance toning layer may be included on the downsampled proxy.

• Scans are usually completed in 72 hours of receipt, but may take longer depending on volume or schedule - call for availability.

• Accelerated service (48-hour turnaround) requires an additional 100% surcharge. Rush service (24-hour turnaround) requires an additional 200% surcharge; ASAP service (within 24 hours) requires an additional 400% - call for availability.

• The utmost care and attention will be given to each original, and submitting any film or other originals for scanning or other handling constitutes an agreement that any damages, loss or delay is without warranty or liability, and any recovery for any incidental or consequential damages is expressly excluded.

* 4000 samples per inch is less optimal for color negative films due to film grain aliasing. 2000 spi exhibits less grain aliasing than 4000, but not as much as an 8000 spi file or downsampled from it.

 

** This file is derived from an original optical scanning resolution of 8000 spi and downsampled internally by the scanner due to a 2GB file size limit imposed by the Trident scanning software.
